Today marks the start of our Pedal4Innovation campaign.
With this effort, SILICA and friends will try to raise funds to support two charities (Neuroblastoma Alliance UK and Alzheimer’s Research UK) and one cause (UK’s next generations of Electronic Engineers).
The idea came out of love for cycling and the will to help and give someone a better chance. Some when at the end of last year, two of SILICA’s employees in UK (Laurence and Peter) decided to make an effort and cycle between all 6 of our offices in the country. And while cycling, they will be making a stop en route at our suppliers’ offices and universities aiming to raise awareness and funds for the two charities and the cause.
Laurence and Peter will be hitting the pedals hard starting from May 21, 2012 and their goal is to reach the final by the end of day on May 25, 2012. Friends of ours will be joining as well from the start and along the road. So far there are eleven people training hard getting ready for this demanding trip and we expect more to join.
Also starting from today, our JustGiving charity pages for Neuroblastoma Alliance UK and Alzheimer’s Research UK are ready to accept your donations. The money you donate will go directly to both organizations and help someone stand a better chance fighting these diseases.
And before we actually get on the road we will be broadcasting the training our guys are undergoing (Peter has already shaped up tremendously by trimming 20kg off), the progress of received donations and other interesting information about the campaign and people that are making a stand with it.
Naturally, you can keep up with the latest developments through this blog. In addition, you can also follow us on our Twitter with hashtag #P4I and Facebook Page channels.
Stay tuned and get involved!
