Chances are that many of the people reading this post know exactly who SILICA is and what is our business. But it wouldn’t be nice, if we do not introduce ourselves. Our moms raised us properly.
SILICA is an Avnet Inc. company and we are in the business of distributing vast range of products from over 25 semiconductor manufacturers. We do business in Europe through 41 branch offices (6 of them in the UK) and we do love what we do and where we do it. Everything you need to know about us can be found on our website www.silica.com.
Through the 10 years we have been in business, we managed to grow significantly and gain the trust and friendship of our partners. And when we shared our idea to pedal through the UK for the next generation of electronic engineers and the Neuroblastoma Alliance UK and Alzheimer’s Research UK, every single one of them joined the effort right away. Some are courageous enough to pledge participation in the cycling race. And we are nothing less than grateful and proud of their support.
Laurence Dellicott and Peter Carr are both defenders of SILICA’s honor in the upcoming 750 km cycling race. When not working they are training hard to get fit and be able to complete the 5 day challenge in an honorable way. In fact, just to illustrate how serious the guys are, we should probably mention that Peter has already dropped 20 kg in weight and plans to contribute vastly to Marks & Spencer’s second quarter revenue. Laurence, on the other hand, found that the hills in Scotland offer a greater pain that his cycling skill can gain from. And he is riding his Bianchi through every day he is not away on business.
Everyone at SILICA is cheering for Laurence and Peter and we ask you to join us as well!
We will be keeping you informed about their training accomplishments prior to the race and then fully cover the challenge on this blog and our Facebook and Twitter channels. So tune up to any of them!
